TIN Conference

TIN: Thinking, Thriving, Fighting

A Conference by and for trans*, intersex, non-binary and other genderqueer people

2 to 4 October 2026, Berlin

In politically and socially challenging times, we need spaces where trans*, intersex and non-binary (TIN) people can come together, exchange ideas, learn from one another, and draw strength collectively. The conference “TIN: Thinking, Thriving, Fighting”, organised by TrIQ, aims to be such a space.

Together, we want to look back at the history of TIN movements over the past decades: What have we achieved? What has shaped us? Which struggles, experiences, and perspectives do we carry forward? And what do we need for the present and the future? The conference offers time and space for exchange, networking, knowledge-sharing, empowerment, and Community-building.

Over the course of three days, participants can look forward to a diverse programme featuring panel discussions, lectures, workshops, skill-shares, cultural events, and Community activities.

The conference will begin on Friday evening with a celebratory event marking the 20th anniversary of TrIQ. This opening event will also be open to a wider public. As part of a panel discussion, TIN voices that have accompanied and shaped TrIQ throughout the years will come together in conversation. They will reflect on the themes, developments, and events that have influenced TIN communities since TrIQ’s founding—and continue to do so today.

On Saturday and Sunday, we will gather in a local Community centre, which we will fill with TIN life through workshops, lectures, conversations, cultural activities, encounters, and time spent together.

Part of the programme will be held in English. We are also planning formats that provide more focused and protected spaces for different groups within TIN communities, for example for intesex participants. To ensure there is also ample opportunity for rest, informal exchange, and Community-building, there will be a Community lounge, a quiet retreat space, and shared lunches.

“TIN: Thinking, Thriving, Fighting” is an invitation to come together, exchange experiences, and build collective empowerment.

For the conference, we are looking for contributions, ideas, and formats from trans*, intersex, non-binary, and other genderqueer individuals and groups.

What can contributions be about?

We welcome contributions on topics such as:

  • TIN history, memories, and movements
  • Activism, self-organization, and Community work
  • Current political and social challenges
  • Empowerment, Community care, and mutual support
  • Law, health, education, work, and everyday life
  • Multiple forms of discrimination, exclusion, and barriers
  • Networking, alliances, and solidarity
  • Practical skills, knowledge, and skill-sharing

Contributions that do not fit neatly into this list are also welcome. What matters to us is that they emerge from TIN perspectives and create opportunities for exchange, learning, connection, or empowerment.

What formats are possible?

You may submit, for example:

  • Workshops
  • Presentations or talks
  • Roundtable discussions
  • Skill-shares
  • Creative or artistic contributions
  • Readings
  • Film screenings or cultural contributions
  • Practice-based formats

We are happy to explore other formats as well. Please get in touch if you have an idea that is not listed here.

Part of the program will be held in English, and we warmly welcome English-language contributions. We are also planning formats that provide more focused and protected spaces for different groups within TIN communities, for example for intersex participants. You are therefore welcome to propose contributions aimed at specific groups.

Who can submit?

This call for contributions is open to trans*, inter*, non-binary, and other gender*queer individuals, as well as groups, initiatives, and collectives.

You do not need an academic, professional, or institutional affiliation. Lived experience, Community knowledge, activist knowledge, artistic practice, and practical skills are explicitly welcome.

What information do we need from you?

Please send us a short description of your contribution by 5 July 2026, including:

  • Title of the contribution
  • Name(s) of the contributor(s) or group
  • Contribution format
  • Brief description of the content
  • Preferred duration
