As a Berlin-based counseling center and Community space run by and for trans*, intersex and non-binary people, we are deeply touched and shocked by the act of violence that took place this weekend at Berlin’s CSD. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones, as well as with everyone who witnessed the attack.
We witness how anti-queer violence not only frightens and shocks those directly affected, but also everyone who knows: Anti-queer violence has already affected me—or my loved ones—or it could have affected me on this day. We join them in grief and rage.
We reject any attempt to weaponize this attack for party-political advantages and condemn the fact that the incident should already being used to justify a further tightening of anti-immigrant and racist security policies.
Dear queers, dear intersex, non-binary, trans*, and questioning people in Berlin and elsewhere: we’re here for each other. Our space is open this Wednesday, July 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. for anyone who wants to be together, share their thoughts, and not be alone with their feelings.
