For over 20 years, the tin* members of TransInterQueer have been connecting, advising, and empowering other tin* people in Berlin and beyond. We educate about gender and advocate for an end to the pathologization, exoticization, and stigmatization of trans* and inter* people and their bodies.
Given the current global political situation, this work remains more important than ever. Wars, crises, and cuts to the german social welfare system threaten the health, safety, and recognition of tin* people and all other marginalized individuals. This situation is also putting us, as an organization – not just financially – under increasing pressure.
That’s why we rely on your support to protect our work from cuts and make it resilient.
The purpose of the donation:
This October, we are organizing a three-day conference titled “TIN: Thinking, Thriving, Fighting”. In these challenging political and social times, we want to provide a space for TIN individuals to network and share perspectives. The conference will provide opportunities to reflect on TIN history and TIN movements over the past 20 years, share knowledge and experiences, and address and prepare for current and upcoming challenges.
To make the conference accessible to as many people as possible, we are collecting donations so that we do not have to cover the costs (entirely) through participation fees.
We also collect donations for our ongoing organizational work. Among other things, we need:
- Funding for interpreters for our counseling services for TIN refugees and for group meetings
- Supplies for our Community events and regular programs
- Funding for legal counseling, e.g., for those seeking advice on specific legal issues or for the legal review of our publications
- Funds for printing costs to reprint our informational brochures
